As an artist my subject was the flow of energy within dance and I travelled. Meeting dancers who danced since childhood. Each had a family connected to this way of life. We are accountable to this community.

When a person sacrifices themselves during a Sundance they carry pledge throughout the entire year. They have a community they answer to as it’s an acknowledgment we are participating in this life not as an individual rather as a family or living organism with its own life force.
These communities connect everyone through each of us making relatives and following what is called a Red Road moving forward. A philosophy of lifting each other up so they not give up on this life.
The Sioux people called dream dancers by the Cree.
I want to emphasize that Nathan Chasing Horse was a traditional male dancer but had no community to call his home. There are many indigenous people who legally are card carrying community members who answer to nobody. They pretend they do much like so many reconnecting. These are the people Nathan recruited into his cult.
These dances existed before I was born & so many of our cultural practices to help us fight & heal from intergenerational trauma. Once a person knows those who came before us we can move forward. Our indigenous communities for decades had people like Nathan; however, before our children were stolen our communities took care of such monsters.
