1. Stated November 11th, 2011, it is June 5th, 2023, I
am going back into my blog to re edit and update on what has happened with the
events that took place over the past 17 years.
2. 2006, I started working on the HBO movie set called
“Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. My step-niece was fifteen years old. It was in
the fall of this year that Nathan Chasing Horse started sleeping over at my
brother's home where Roberta lived.
3. Roberta was being sexually exploited by two adult
men in the fall of 2006. My brother who was arrested in the fall of 2007 and
Nathan Chasing Horse whom she reported his sexual assault to the Calgary City Police
about ten years later.
4. By the time my brother was sentenced and started
serving his prison time, Roberta, my step-niece came to visit asking to have
visits with her half brother and her half sister. I requested a risk assessment
done on her by a forensic psychologist before allowing her visitation rights. Unfortunately,
my step-niece, Roberta was considered a danger to her siblings and that if she wished
to visit with them, she would need supervised visits with this forensic
psychologist present.
5. Reasons Roberta was considered a danger to herself
and her siblings:
a. At this time, Roberta’s addiction to Nathan was so
extreme that she felt he truly loved her. She thought Nathan was tiring
everything in his power to make her his child bride.
b. At this time, on the same day, both Roberta and my brother
were a news item within our local newspapers for two different reasons:
i. My brother was sentenced to four years in prison.
The news article mentioned the crimes he had committed.
ii. Roberta was in the headline as being involved in
one of Calgary’s largest drugs busted with a group of adults.
c. I didn’t trust her to not have any drugs on her
person if she were to visit her siblings. I didn’t trust her to protect her
siblings should she bring them into contact with her criminal friends. The
following reason was from the forensic assessment.
i. When asked whether she knew the similarities
between the two men: Nathan and my brother who both sexually assaulted her. She
did not understand they were the same. She did not see that both men committed
a criminal offense on her.
ii. If she had no adults, Nathan’s supporters
encouraging her to try to become his helper. Maybe reporting Nathan, I believe
people would not have thought Nathan would heal Roberta of any trauma she
experienced with my brother.
iii. As a result of this co-dependence and enabling
behavior of Roberta encouraged by Nathan’s followers, Roberta fell through the
cracks of Child and Family Services.
6. In the spring of 2007, Roberta disclosed to me that
Nathan Chasing His Horse had sexual intercourse with her. I am mentioning this
because of the way I was treated for trying to report this disclosure to
someone in authority. Understand that in 2006, Nathan already had preformed Lakota
spiritual ceremonies here on Tsuu Tina. Roberta’s mother separated from my
brother and appeared to have abandoned Roberta with my brother previous years
before.
7. As people attending Nathan’s ceremonies moms expressed
their desires to seek outside help with their teenage daughters. I started
writing proposals seeking financial help from the Chief and Council on these
moms and their daughters. I also sought out any media off the internet to get
references regarding Nathan’s so call youth mentorship. As here he was a young
sober, drug free successful movie star who could help guide our youth.
8. I sought out reference via email to different
organization that appear to use Nathan as a public role model, but nobody replied
to all of emails. I did this because prior to moving back home to Canada, I
lived in the USA. I remember the first time I saw Nathan Chasing His Horse when
he was seventeen. It was from this first impression of him that I wanted references
and only that but also to make sure he was safe.
9. My first impression of him was that of an arrogant
boy who show his disrespect to teenage girls. My roommate pointed Nathan out to
me and suggested I go up to him asking him for an autograph. I approached him
but didn’t ask until he finish talking to a group of teenage girls. Nathan was
standing with a group of teenage boys. It was what happened after the girls
left him that sicken me to my gut. He immediately turned to his friends and
started laughing making fun of the girls who just left. I thought a person such
as him didn’t deserve my time nor my need to ask him for his autograph.
ItIt wasn’t just those memories of
my first impression of Nathan, it was also the manner that he held himself on
the movie set. He paraded around on set with his entourage. Unlike the other
indigenous actors. He was not friendly to me. All other actors were very
friendly, despite the fact he already had spiritual ceremonies on Tsuu Tina. His
helper were friendly. There was also the time he got angry. He stormed out to
production office, I think because he didn’t get paid the amount he thought he
was entitled.
1At any rate, it appeared to me
he and his helpers needed money fast. They appeared to be living a modest live
style or so appeared. Lining up ceremonies for him to get paid so he could pay
his helpers seems vitally important. As I’ve stated his three helped stayed
with me and didn’t have to pay rent or anything financial to me.
For years my late mother and I
would try to help my brother heal from his addictions. Helping Nathan and his
helpers was apart of helping my brother again. I just want to say that there
are more healing modalities than Lakota sweats and Lakota Sundance.
1 From 2006-2007 I tried fund
raising for the moms and daughters hoping to raise enough money to take a group
of them to Fort Peck for Nathan’s Sundance held at Wolf’s Point. As I scheduled
spiritual ceremonies, Nathan became friends with many of the community leaders
here. I told Nathan I was going to write about what was going on here. It seemed
like everyone was happy and acknowledging some healing was happening. Nathan
said just long as it was is correct. It struck me as odd. Yet again, his
arrogance showing.
